James

When you first enter the debug window, type set and press Enter - you can enter Y for update production there.

This default is for your protection - didn't we all have this conversation a few years ago? Don't protect me, I know what I'm doing?

Another choice is to change the default. Or wrap STRDBG in a program that uses the value you want.

Cheers
Vern

I find it ironic that the debugger won't allow you to change files in production libraries unless started with UPDPROD(*YES), because when I have a Cycle update program (or any other iterative program that could make a big mess if I got the logic wrong) that updates a file, I frequently use the debugger very specifically to single-step it through the first one or two records it is updating or deleting, as a final check before turning it loose.
