That would be all well and good, except that (1) this is a customer box, on which we *only* have terminal access (and only *indirect* terminal access at that!), and (2) it's happening in the wee hours of the morning, when nobody is around to see it (and worse, it's happening intermittently).

A CL or API solution would be a better fit to the problem.
