We even have situations in which we have externally described files, yet
treat them as program-described. In the case of our Wintouch CRM
product, we keep a separate copy of the meta-data (and in fact, whenever
new fields are defined, they get defined there FIRST, and THEN the
affected PFs and LFs get regen'd); in the case of QuestView, we mine the
meta-data from the file, using API calls.
