I have been asked if it is possible to generate a .pdf in a 5250
session and then have the 5250 session automatically open adobe (or
whatever .pdf viewer is in use) on the laptop to view it. Is it
possible to open a windows program via a 5250 command? I've been
googling but not having any luck.

In addition to other recommendations, some 5250 emulators output URL
syntax as a clickable link. If you place the generated PDF into a shared
folder on the i and output the appropriate link, the OS will open the
link. Which application is used, is a local setting, though. I assume,
the clients are running Windows. Probably this can be influenced through
group policies.

:wq! PoC
