It just seemed strange to me to have them run all the time. I'm used to the fans turning on and off and when they do run they are loud. The setting from the ASMI is Enable Dynamic Performance mode. This is the default.

Somewhere there is a setting to say whether to vary the fans, run them full bore all the time, etc. For example, if the datacenter doesn't charge you by the amp and you don't care about the noise it generates in a data center out of state...
