We use the wildcard delete, then add all shares, both win and IBM i.
I just listed and example of the add of the IBM I share

The problem I have with the login script is IDC if they have other shares on various Windows servers. I just want to delete/rebuild the one(s) on IBM i. Thus NET USE * /delete /yes Might be a bit thermonuclear. Because then I would be responsible for adding the NET USE <rebuild stuff> for the other shares.
I did some testing. In your example I could replace that with NET USE Y: /delete /yes But now I think I can work with this. Thank you.

The log on script won't abort if it runs the following but it was not there, will it?
NET USE Y: /delete /yes

<snip>
We solved this by deleting/adding the mapped drives to our Win login scripts.
NET USE * /delete /yes
NET USE Y: \\LPAR name\folder name
</snip>

Rob,

I think that's the whole problem right there in a nutshell...

When you connect to a Windows share, you can specify to have it "automatically reconnect on re-boot."

So, what happens when a user changed their password in the meantime?

The next time they reboot Windows, when it tries to "auto-reconnect" the "shares," I think this is what ends up disabling the user profile... (or at least the "NetServer userID), -- it might not happen on the first "share", but if you have multiple shares defined ...? :-/

Perhaps we need an RFE for this, but I am not certain how to word that or how exactly it should be resolved or fixed?

Hope that helps,

Mark S. Waterbury

I was kind of hoping that a reboot would have done that but I'll keep that in mind.
