There's a 3rd piece of that puzzle-- We use the following system values:

QINACTITV - 90

QINACTMGQ - *DSCJOB

QDSCJOBITV - 60

This allows an interactive job to be returned to a signon screen after 90 minutes of inactivity. After another 60 minutes, the disconnected job is ended.

During the QDSCJOBITV (60 min) interval, if the user returns to their disconnected session and signs back on again, their session re-connects and continues as if there was no interruption.

Yes, those are long intervals. However, they're a compromise between users, the auditors, and IT. IT and the auditors lost.

If you're concerned about tasks and sessions being arbitrarily ended and rolling back transactions, it's more of an issue with an application not using a COMMIT command in a timely fashion.

PC sessions are locked back to a PC signon screen at a much shorter interval!

Currently, we are set with QINACTITV set to 60 with QINACTMSGQ set to QINACTMSGQ.

We are considering a change to ENDJOB.
A review of the QINACTMSGQ shows that hundreds of jobs would be ended on a daily basis.

What are the recommendations for QINACTITV and QINACTMSGQ?

Thank You
