That's all I've done since I inherited the operator/administrator duties. To me it's just so much easier with the BRMS report sitting in front of you with the exact commands to run.
I just checked, we have no omits. That is why we didn't have it on our backup. Our nightly backups are specific libraries, and nothing on the IFS. We do a fullsys and IPL every Saturday night.

I would also encourage you to understand that recovery is quite different
from that based on a Go Save 21 -
it's not just a replacement or an alternative method to get the same thing,
the save is structured quite differently on tape and the recovery process
is also different.

But in the last several years I've done more bare metal system restores from BRMS than from GO SAVE 21. So the BRMS recovery reports are pretty rock solid.

I would endorse what Rob said about the omits.

I know that BRMS can do the equivalent of the Go Save 21.
I have been searching for instructions on how to do it. I have not found
anything that I would consider instructions. More like, yep you can do it.
Can anyone point me to some instructions? How to set it up and how to run
it.
I have seen things about using BRMS console.
I know the Control Group *SYSTEM would be the group to use.
TIA
