Escape sequences are delineated nicely at https://www.json.org/json-en.html.
I like their documentation. Most sites that deal with JSON data have a
function that will transform escape sequences to their character
equivalents. But don't assume that the transformation will be automatic. A
JSON client might decide to store the JSON as is (including escape
sequences), rather than transform it first.

This is a snippet of part of my code.

dcl-s snd_folderName char(1000);
snd_folderName = 's:\am\kcrawford';
yajl_addChar('folderName' : %trim(snd_folderName) );

When I look at the JSON that this produced I see.
{
"folderName": "s:\\am\\kcrawford"
}

Why the double slashes?
I looked for anything about special characters but did not find anything.
TIA
