Yes, you're perfectly right. I tend to forget that in the commercial environment, IBM i is mostly about existing software. My question was in hindsight of a special case of OS function, and other "easy" cases, where the RRN definitely doesn't matter, and all accesses to records are done by Index. The latter includes newly created tables for maybe even new applications.
