I'm sorry. I felt it was safest to use the official name. In ACS, under Console the first option is "5250 Console". I guess it's more commonly known as LAN console.

I would agree that from i 7.3 forward and with LAN console yes. But HMC doesn't require it and previous to i 7.3 you could use DeadNav (iSeries
Navigator) and that doesn't even support an encrypted console.
