Based on your post, are we to assume you are using LAN console as opposed to an HMC?

Subject: Re: SSL for 5250 Console?
We had a problem, after support applied some PTFs, next IPL SSL stop working. No https, no telnet 992, no ssh, and the i as client did not work.
The console was also out, complained about SSL, so the only way to use it was booting from dvd. Default configuration, uses IPv6 encrypted. Re- load micro-code solved the problem.
We send the info to IBM, try to find out witch PTF caused the problem.

The IBM docs would seem to imply that SSL is on by default. "Data encryption Enhanced authentication and data encryption provide network security for console procedures. 5250 Console on a network uses SSL." https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_73/rzajr/rzajrse [1] curity.htm [1 [2]] The console session itself shows the open padlock and double-clicking the lock shows "Connection is not secure". Does anyone know whether 5250 Console is SSL by default? If it's not encrypted by default, any idea how to enable it? TIA
