Excellent, thank you.

I'm going to update the highest VL910 PTF first, which is not disruptive. Then I'll have to decide how far to go with the next PTF.

Thanks everyone

Honestly, I've not worked with a single lpar system since Power 4.
The command is DSPFMWSTS. WRK... implies you have options other than display.

Kind of lays it all out right here:
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/9009-41A/p9ha5/fix_firm_i5os_nohmc.htm
This has a note which says: " For instructions on how to install the server firmware fixes along with IBM i fixes, from the IBM i Knowledge Center expand IBM i and related software > Maintaining and managing IBM i and related software > Using software fixes > Installing fixes."
There are NO instructions specific to installing server firmware fixes at that link. That link is (for 7.3):
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_ibm_i_73/rzam8/rzam8fixinstall1.htm
Neither mention any extra special steps. Perhaps there used to be but newer versions of IBM i no longer require this and they just haven't updated any of the Power Systems Knowledge Centers accordingly? I added a comment at that page.

There is a note in the first link which says:
"When you shut down the IBM i service partition to install the server firmware fixes, system reference code D6xx430B or D6xx430A might be displayed for an extended period. The xx will increment periodically, and is a normal part of processing when server firmware fixes are being installed. Allow the server to complete the processing; do not interrupt this process."

IIRC, to activate the patch to the Service Processor, you need to IPL
to a power off state (RESTART(*NO)), and let the system sit for 5
minutes or so, while the Service Processor swallows the patch. Then,
when you IPL, and use the WRKFMWSTS (I think that's the spelling)
command, you should see the current patch has been applied and is
active.

What does activation entail? Is it something like a power down and
then a special IPL from the front panel?
