Maybe I'm too used to thinking security with all the Linux servers (mail, web, whatever) exposed to the outside because *it was necessary*. What doesn't need to be reached from outside stays inside. (And even there, no lax security measures. Hardening is mandatory, as are good passwords.)

It never occurred to me that people might connect stuff to be reachable from outside for reasons I can't imagine but aren't scoped to necessity.
