English! Woo hoo!

And that did remind me of something. An issue with a Tripplite 20+ outlet
power strip some bazillion years ago. We used it to charge Telxons
(remember those?). The power light was blinking/flashing intermittently,
working fine, the light just flashing. I called Tripplite asking if that
means impending failure or something? They said no, it was fine. Also
sent a replacement overnight and said just pitch the blinking/flashing
light one. My boss said I could take it home if I wanted. I did and it's
still in my shop.

I had forgotten all about that.

Exactly. And my response is 'he's wrong'. Support is out of Chicago.
Support speaks english. Support has driven TO my customers to replace
components NOT yet dead but were known to have issues. And even recently
I got a return email on an older PDU from a guy on vacation! And not
just 'hey I forwarded it to xxx' an actual suggestion too (and it worked.)

regarding bypass if UPS failure.
