I thought about changing one and then looking at the system audit journals but figured you can do that kind of experimenting on your own system.
You can do about anything with SQL. It may require you to create your own stored procedure, table function, user defined function, either written in SPL or some other language to do it though. ;-)
And if you do find the location don't assume it will be in the same place at the next release. There's a reason IBM tries to funnel you through APIs.
Also, I wouldn't put it past IBM to put these in IFS or some other place and use weird permissions or attributes to control whether user based programs can update them. But you may get lucky.
