How do these extra steps save time?

I've also done this, minimizing the down window.

All your data can be moved with the LPAR fully operational and in use.
Back in 2015 on a P7
All data (3tb) was moved from 177 SSD to 775 SSD, 12 hours.

Minimize the down window to the time it takes to move the load source in SST.

Back in 2015 on a P7
All data (3tb) was moved from (18) 177 SSD to (6) 775 SSD, 12 hours.
All 177 SSD removed from ASP, except for load source.

Load source
2 hour down window, in addition to save window, maybe less, all depends on option 9. Copy disk unit data
2 Power downs.
