jack, i though by default IBMi flat files WERE EBCDIC... no?
so what would I be converting the IBMi file to? The vendor says they need
it in EBCDIC.

You can also skip the "engine" and just write a python script or even a
simple bash shell script that does this end-to-end.
Such scripts can be launched in PASE from within a CL suitable for job
