Hah, that reminds me about a former employment, when the PHP-Guy was complaining that the database was sooo slow, because page load times were sooo high.

Turned out that he still had debugging turned on, so a page was crammed with HTML comments containing SQL statements and other funny stuff. With a lot of information presented per page, the browser had to gnaw through about 1MB HTML code (without auxiliary stuff like graphics) which also needed to be downloaded before — that's why external employees also complained.
