Hi Dieter, I don't know about a complete documentation but what I know for
sure is that there is a difference when you duplicate DB file with logicals
using CRTDUPOBJ Vs SAVOBJ + RSTOBJ.

CRTDUPOBJ OBJ(MYFILE*) FROMLIB(REALDATA) OBJTYPE(*FILE) TOLIB(WORKLIB)
DSPDBR FILE(WORKLIB/MYFILE00F) RCDFMT(*ALL)
Will show a relation with both libraries.

SAVOBJ OBJ(MYFILE*) LIB(REALDATA) DEV(*SAVF) OBJTYPE(*FILE) SAVF(X)
RSTOBJ OBJ(MYFILE*) SAVLIB(REALDATA) DEV(*SAVF) OBJTYPE(*FILE)
SAVF(X) RSTLIB(LAVORO)
DSPDBR FILE(WORKLIB/MYFILE00F) RCDFMT(*ALL)
Will show a relation with ONE library.

The effects? I don't know, but in the past that caused a lost of
relation between the PF and the LF so issuing a chgpf over the (duplicated)
PF didn't change the LF (missing or different fields).

I have a dds described PF and a dds join logical file. Both have an
identical record format. Same name of record format, same named fields,
same
sequence of fields, identical field types and dimensions. Following the
description in the "Database Programming" manual (Chapter "Effects of
changing fields in a file description") both should have the same
Formal-Level Id., but they don't. What am I overlooking? Where is a
complete
documentation of the Format Level Id. Hash?
