Was that for the drives themselves, or did that also include some of the other expenses Larry talked about below?
Basically you were replacing all the drives every 3 years with that deal. Or at least paying like you were.
There comes a point when you have to decide whether or not maintenance on a drive is worth it, or if you want to self maintain them.
It's not that hard to CAREFULLY read the instructions as to how to do this. And to follow the check list EACH AND EVERY TIME.
Or you can stock a spare or two and just pay time for someone else to do it for you.
