Yes, Rob you are correct, but you keep up to date on your servers.
That said: I see too many folks still running V7R1 with Java 6. Then they
wonder why things don't go well on the upgrade. Same thing here, the code
is available but that does not mean system admins download it, load it, and
apply PTFs to it.........

I didn't find Java to be that big of a hit. After all, who would have ran
JDK7? 7&8 were available on IBM i at the same time as a replacement for 6
all the way back to 7.1.

I have not checked but usually IBM has upgrade documentation out there.
The process will be nearly identical to the V7R2/V7R3 upgrade.
Java is a landmine, (almost always is) as well as a couple of LPPs that
were
dropped. WAS if installed, needs to be at the proper levels.
MTU will tell you quite a bit.
Downloads today are really slow........ I guess lot's of folks are trying
to download it.

Thanks, Paul.
Is there a tutorial for installing a new OS version? I know I did it from
V7R2 to V7R3 but that was a while ago. The only snafu I ran into was
making
sure to have the latest ACS for the console during the update.
