When you replace the P7, especially if you plan on waiting that long, I'm willing to place money that the new machine (as opposed to the term "new for you") will not run 7.2 so an upgrade is in the cards anyway.
Verify your vendor software versions meet or exceed their 7.3 levels.
Verify you do not have any hardware/software incompatibilities as noted at:
https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1022023%20
Biggest kick being 7.3 dropped JDK6 which required a higher version of Domino. I seem to remember Domino was once part of your enterprise.

No announcement as of today.

I would not expect them to announce EOS for V7R2 until they no longer support the P7+ boxes.

As to the upgrade, Yes! Upgrade. It's worth it. DB performance, extra security stuff, etc.

Has IBM announced end of support or end of life for V7R2?

I have a Power 7 that is end of support on 9/30/2019, and am planning to replace it but will likely be keeping the Power 7 for at least a year or two and am wondering if it is worth upgrading to V7R3 even though the hardware will not be supported.
