<snip>
This strategy includes the practice of supporting an IBM i release until the next two releases have been made available, plus at least 24 months-which translates to approximately six years of support.
</snip>
Basically this means that 7.2 should be supported until GA of iNext + 24 months. NST than 2021
https://www.ibm.com/it-infrastructure/us-en/resources/power/i-strategy-roadmap/
7.1 was only 2 weeks off of 7.3 + 24 months
6.1 didn't make it that long
V5R4 was crazy stupid long
V5R3 didn't make it that long
V5R2 didn't make it that long.
But I guess the latest expiration(7.1) sets the pattern (for now).

Be sure to read the fine print stating they have the right to change their roadmaps and nothing is ever set in stone.

Guess I'll have to defer to that roadmap. Seems pretty definitive.

2021ish, if you look at a recent IBM i Support Roadmap (towards the bottom of this web page)
https://www.itechsol.com/moving-ibm-i-to-power9/
IBM has never concurrently supported more than three generations of IBM i,
iNext (i 7.4?) to be announced next week, so i 7.2, i 7.3 and iNext make three
IBM seems to be targeting 2021 for iNext+1,
2 to 3 years seems to be the current time between IBM i releases
