How bold. I like it. I may follow suit.
Now if I could only remember why I initially loaded 5733OPS. Like did I do so because I could, or was there a requirement?
Then there was the old discussion which suggested loading on all the options of 5733OPS and let the PTF's install new options as they came along.

In preparation for moving to our new power 9 box this coming weekend (new HMC interface can bite my shiney *#@$), I just deleted all the OPS stuff and dealt with the fallout. For me python was the only thing really being used. I had to fix up the default path and install a couple of packages that I had in the OPS versions. At the very least a list of differences or potential gotchas would be nice.

Bingo! This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about.

Interesting. I thought the standard advice was to scrap everything in 5733-OPS, unless specifically needed for finicky software (with hard-coded paths or extremely version-dependent code).

And I'm *positive* the advice for folks who have never installed 5733-OPS is not to bother installing it now.
