Curl and the Python Requests library basically do the same thing that HTTPAPI does.  So all of my points apply equally to those.

To summarize those points:  You can certainly do it, but remember that a web browser is a lot more than HTTP requests.  Anything beyond network requests that the browser does, you'll need to write yourself.
