Some customers have EMC which at least are "respected" by IBM if there is a support case.

We're using OpenSource-VTL (quadstor) with IBM i with rather good experience, but we are doing the support
by ourselves for VTL and IBM-BRMS. If you're not that experienced user you might go best with IBM
only, but there's some price...

While on the phone with BRMS support today, I mentioned that I might be going to a VTL library.
IBM support mentioned that the only supported VTL libraries are IBM's.
Even though the 3rd party VTLs may work fine, they are not supported by IBM.

I was seriously considering one of these 3rd party VTLs, but now I'm not so sure on the choice.

One of the goals of the VTL was to add a 2nd library, eliminating the daily manual tape handling to off-site storage.

Anyone in the group using non-IBM VTLs?
