Roberto,
Ok...we've checked on high load systems (100% SQL and 2000+ concurrent
users).
10GbE was a nightmare, high CPU load, high network overhead.
Then we tried with 4 x 1Gb NICs, using different addresses, and worked as
usual. That s not equal, but equivalent.
I remember a document talking about issues with 10Gb NICs, but can t
remember where

That's not what we were talking about. You said that everything else
equal, 10Gb has more CPU overhead compared to 1Gb. Since 1Gb can't givediegokesselman@xxxxxxxxx
more than 1Gb throughput, we can asume that you mean equal load and that
means an underutilized 10Gb adapter has more CPU overhead than a 1Gb
adapter.
How did you arrive to this conclusion? We were not discussing how SEA or
other nic sharing technologies add overhead but an adapter to adapter
comparison.

You're right, you have CPU overhead on SEA and Etherchannel, andbandwidth
overhead on 10Gb attached to your IBMi.
In fact you get 5~7 Gb according to customer experience .

Diego,
Where are you getting that fact from? 10Gb throughput has overhead.
orhaven't seen how a 10Gb link can consume additional CPU compared to the1Gb

That's comparing SEA to SEA. SR-IOV, vNIC or other technologies might
overhead but related to the virtualization itself...diegokesselman@xxxxxxxxx

Remember: 10Gb puts some CPU overhead. Sometimes 1Gb x N adapters isbetter

This is where Navigator is your real friend. You can simply bring
graph and see how much Ethernet you are using. I'll bet it's 15%
