Agreed. Actions will dictate.

I have customers that are very deep into Domino mail and applications.
One of them called HCL. The story there is Domino on IBM i is bigger than
most people think, and they are starting to invest more in the product
than
IBM did. They insinuated one of the reasons IBM sold it is that was the
only way to get it off IBMs plate. Rumor is they (IBM) have been trying
to
kill Domino for some time.
HCL on the other hand needs to recoup the investment so I think you'll see
a
much better attitude towards the product now than before.
Now the question of where the connections stuff is going to actually run
is
an interesting medium/longer term question. Does it stay in IBM's cloud
or
move off to somewhere else......?

I hope so Vern. I hope that HCL is working with IBM i.
Glad to see Ed Brill gone. He treated IBM i with scorn and disdain. Said
it was something Midwesterners were fond of.
We'll see by
- when Domino 10 comes out on IBM i.
- And if Domino 10 continues to support multiple Domino servers on a
single
lpar with their own dedicated subsystems, etc, or if it is just a poor
PASE
migration.
- And if Domino 10 does not need other operating systems to perform
certain
tasks. If you've ever tried to get the full Sametime experience with
meetings, audio, video, etc you start to understand the 'server farm'
diagram in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVRHbQPBgEA
- And if Domino is ready on Day 1 of rNext of IBM i.

I heard the same thing from a Domino/Notes consultant - said this is the
best thing to happen in years - and that HCL is working with IBM i in a
way IBM has not done.
Cheers

Hi, Joe:
A good friend of mine, who works for a large organization that uses
Lotus Notes heavily, says that so far, HCL seems to be doing a much better
job of delivering fixes and enhancements, etc. to the Lotus Notes and
Domino products than IBM has done for at least the last 5 years or so.
So, this may in fact turn out to be "the right move" for both IBM and
for the remaining loyal Lotus Notes / Domino customers.
Just saying ...

This should be interesting. We've been discussing getting off of
