A good friend of mine, who works for a large organization that uses Lotus Notes heavily, says that so far, HCL seems to be doing a much better job of delivering fixes and enhancements, etc. to the Lotus Notes and Domino products than IBM has done for at least the last 5 years or so.
So, this may in fact turn out to be "the right move" for both IBM and for the remaining loyal Lotus Notes / Domino customers.
