There are objects in the system domain, and there are objects within the

For example I am a huge fan of using the pointers to access user spaces.
After all, would you rather use
x = y +1
in RPG, or would you rather use
x = performAddition(y; 1; ErrDS)
Obviously one would rather use the former. That's why I like using
pointer versus stuff like QUSRTVUS to retrieve information from a user
space.
However, for someone developing tools that someone may run on objects in
the system domain and you can't control where the user space goes (poor
example for most applications) you may want to stick to the APIs.

But getting back to your problem, is it possible you are working on
something in the system domain?
