Correct me if I'm wrong,
Installation Manager is for various IBM Passport Advantage based products.
WAS, RDI, RDI floating licenses via License Server, Tivoli, etc.

Rob,

The primary use of the installation manager for most of us is to manage WAS,
including applying fixpacks. With the newer versions of WAS you
install/manage WAS with the Installation Manager. And yes, you have to keep
it current since it will botch up things if you don't.

My issue with it is, the command line worked, well. The documentation
sucked wind but at least I could build software to stop the system, apply
PTFs, if there was a WAS update, apply that, and bring everything back up,
while I sat and watched the game. Now I have to run the WAS updates
manually from the GUI. Great time saver.

Rob, isn't that just the standard installation product used to install
and manage all Rational products?

I don't recall this product.
Is anyone using it?
Is it just another way of doing something we've been already doing? If
so, is it better?
