I agree that the patches and updates go on almost seamlessly, I rarely have
issues with that. Sometimes applications need updates due to changes, but
that's not the installation manager's fault.

My issue is where we have over 100 partitions to update, then an automated
tool is just the right thing, where a requirement for GUI interaction is,
slow, requires a sign on to each and every partition, does not allow me to
automate back out processes when needed, etc, etc.

Some of us actually use the command line, like it and can write scripts to
automate things. (It's called system programming) and the forcible push to
the GUI because a bunch of millennials can't be bothered to learn the
command line is beyond irritating.

I'm too far away from real retirement to consider it (although old enough)
but this new push to lots of open space and pretty color combinations on the
web sites is driving me nuts. Some web sites are busy because they need to
be.

Jim--

THANK YOU! I thought -we- were the only ones to call Passport
(dis)Advantage by its proper name! (:

As far as Installation Manager goes, for me, it's a lot more convenient to
use than fussing with the manual procedure. It does collect all of the
mysterious Things To Do into a convenient package.

I think P(d)A has finally gotten their act together as well-- the upgrades
to IM and WAS have been (knock on wood) trouble free.
