RE: vim

What I am generally getting from these discussions is that:

1 - Use a SSH client, like Putty, instead of 5250 for using things like
vi, vim, and that genre
2 - For a summary of preferences/dislikes one should probably google
questions like vi vs vim or what enhancements does vim have over vi
3 - After trying to personally use vi it is beyond the scope of any list
responder to try to tutor you on the use of it. You are better off to
google for a tutorial and to google for a vi cheat sheet. I would assume
the same would apply for the other editors.

A question I might have is does color enhancing even show up in a putty
client?
Another one might be, why would I use vi, vim, etc, if I use RDi? Is it
difficult to use for stream files? If one has no knowledge of the whole
vi genre then is it any more difficult to pick up than those editors?

Let's not pick nits or get insulted if I've impugned your favorite editor
by simply lumping it in with "the whole vi genre", it's just a term.
