The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Unfortunately the system and HMC are in a Co-lo about 1,900 miles away, so starting a local console session is not an option. I will take a look at the console takeover feature.
BTW, this HMC is a CR7, not CR1. If it was a CR1 I could use the BMC port to remote into the console itself and open a local 5250 console session. A vHMC would be nice right now also.

Subject: Re: HMC remote 5250 console connectivity
Two big tricks to that.
One, start the shared session directly on the HMC first before starting it
on your PC. IOW, if when you start the shared session on your PC it
prompts you for the session key TWICE that's the red flag in your face
that you need to start the shared session on the HMC. We have our HMC's
connected to a KVM with remote access so that we can do just this thing.
The first time I learned this was with Larry Bolhuis at COMMON Dallas
years ago and I was trying to format drives on IBM i back at the office.
That was fun to keep losing your session.
Two, you may not need this but there's a special function which will keep
that session going even if you reboot your HMC. You have to enable
"console takeover".
