Jim,

Your method looks to me like you're simply replacing QUSRWRK with a user defined subsystem is not the path I can go down. Maybe a clearer explanation is in order.

What happens

PC1 ---------------|
| -------(SSL/TLS connection)----ODBC/JDBC---- iSeries1 ---- QUSRWRK / QRWTSRVTR (skips the job queue and routing entries)
WebSpere1-------|

What I need to happen

PC1 ---------------|
| -------(SSL/TLS connection)----ODBC/JDBC---- iSeries1 --- Route to(based on user profile) to--- User defined subsystem / QRWTSRVTR
WebSpere1-------|

Russel:

You'll have to create your subsystem, and include in it all the prestart jobs you need in the new subsystem. You'll have to remove the prestart jobs from the old subsystem. (presumably QUSRWRK and QSYSWRK.

Make sure to assign new memory (don't use *BASE) to them and on the class entry specify that new memory pool.

In the archives somewhere I have listed all the steps needed to do this, (perhaps I should put them in the Wiki too)

I'm working today so I should see email to the list .

WRKRPYLE output(*print) Then convert the spool file to a physical file.
Process the physical file. Not elegant, but it should work.

Does anyone know how to programmatically retrieve the current contents of
the system reply list? Where is it stored? Is there an API that will
retrieve it? I know I can generate a listing and then read the spool file
but that's a bit too old school for me now.

Thanks Roger - This pointed me to the fact that there is an LF in QSYS2
named REPYLIST that I can either read or, more safely, CPYF to my own PF
and then read. More elegant that reading a spool file. Thanks for the
pointer.

Let me guess, the point of copying it to your own PF is to avoid coding SQL in your programs and, if one just has to stick with RLA, avoid level checks?
