Any syslog messages from the telnet server?

Pretty sure your admin should deal with it:

*The simplest way to assign LUs is to create a default LU group that
Telnet
can use for all terminal connections. DEFAULTLUS is a combination
statement
that defines the LUs in a default group and maps the group to the NULL
Client Identifier. If the client's Client Identifiers do not match any
LU
mapping statements, the client is identified by the NULL Client
Identifier
and will be assigned LUs from the default group.*

I am the systems programmer (a.k.a., systems administrator) on the
mainframe side. I have four different Telnet ports open on the mainframe
side. One of those Telnet ports is set up to accept connections on a
pooled basis (i.e., no predefined LU name). I created this pooled group
for the purpose of allowing ipads (which only support TN3270 -- not
TN3270E) to connect to our mainframe. I also tried that port in the IBM i
TELNET command and still could not get a connection (same messages on both
sides).

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
