A very long time ago I got a partition on our P6 up to the point of
being able to log in after an initial install with Suse. Didn't have
much time after that, and that was about the same time that Zend and IBM
started playing nice together, so that experiment kinda dropped by the
wayside.

They should run Linux. I ran VIOS, AIX and IBM i on it. Unless the
disk is funky enough to insist you host Linux from IBM i.

I have an HMC... is it as simple as deleting the existing IBM i
partition and
loading a POWER-architecture Linux from DVD?
