The company I work for uses the "modern" controls more than any other I
have worked with. I have used check boxes, radio buttons, push buttons, and
single and multi-selection subfiles. No menu controls though. If you want
to discuss quirks, I am happy to do so.

One of our more interesting quirks is that we use push buttons for command
keys (the command keys work as well). The quirk is that, though you can
keep the tab from jumping down to the push button field from a single
record format, you can't do so with a subfile. The cursor will go to the
push button line at the end of the subfile no matter what you do, and we
don't like that happening since typically the first button is an F3=Exit,
and we prefer not to make it easy to exit without saving by pressing the
enter key. So far the only workarounds I have found is to add an ENTER
pushbutton in front of the F3 pushbutton, or to add an input capable
non-display parking spot that traps the cursor with FLDCSRPGR. But that
last option traps the cursor, and the user then has to use the mouse or
arrow keys to move it off the spot.

Neither is an optimal solution.

The emotional posting that is going on interests me.

However my original hope with this thread was to find programmers who
are actually using the enhanced features every day, and discuss with
them various quirks, like not being able to easily deselect a check
box. Perhaps identify faults and find work-arounds, or clear up
misunderstandings.

most programmers are still using SEU.
