One of my clients has an average of 9,000 interactive users running a
straight green screen application.

The Customer Experience (is this a new thing?) department complained today
that the application has been running slow. They shut up when presented a
performance navigator chart showing the average response times for the past
2 months at less than a quarter of a second.

And yes, these are the same people who refuse enough downtime to do service
packs, file reorg's, data purges and so on and so on.

They can't comprehend that even banks take their systems offline for
maintenance.

Just to clarify a bit:

I am a 1 person shop, so I have no staff - it's just me myself and I.

All of my custom code outside of JDE World is in RPG free-format using
sub-procedures with some service programs. I was just talking about users
requesting that their screens remain green. I only have 5 users that access
JDE full-time and yes, they are all over 40.

I am aware that E1 is not written in RPG, but can still run on the i. The
beauty of that is that we could maintain some of our custom integrations
with very little modification if we do ever migrate.

(would love to migrate, but the cost seems prohibitive for us. Has
anyone actually performed this migration for little to no cash outlay?)

I have looked into creating a dashboard for the owner, but he nixed the
idea. He's very old-school in that he just wants to see numbers on a
report. At least that is a PDF that is emailed to him every day.

Thanks
