I've heard (not from our BP) there are drive limitations on an S914 at the P05 level, so that might have something to do with it. It can't hurt to ask our BP about the external-only drive configuration.

Interesting. What's your spec? I have about 46TB in internal drives. But I'm using RAID6 with multiple hot spares. I so use mirroring on the VIOS drives. Each VIOS lpar has one pair of internal mirrored drives.
