I'd do a trace then for IBM SMTP. Or install MAILTOOL and try MAILTOOL
Plus to see if Google shows anything in the logs.

If the email is being sent, it should show up in the sent folder.

Then again, I know with GMail, if you use the same FROM and TO address, a
lot of time they won't send it. Check that out too.

Something IBM did, and I believe was part of the RFC, but hardly any
clients knew how to put them back together. :)
