We are running a Power System with 7.2
I have inherited a program that was written by someone else.
It sends email but does NOT use IBM's SMTP, MSF, SNDDST etc. to send
email
It connects directly to a mail server from an RPG program, creates a
mime file and relays the email through the mail server. We now want to
switch over from using our ISP email server to using Office365.
Apparently Office365 does not simply allow us to tell then to accept
relays from our IP address.
From what I gather from Office365 support is I have 3 options:
Option 1 (recommended): Authenticate your device or application
directly with an Office 365 mailbox, and send mail using SMTP client
submission
Requires TLS
Option 2: Send mail directly from your printer or application to
Office 365 (direct send)
Direct send cannot be used to deliver email to external recipients,
for example, recipients with Yahoo or Gmail addresses.
Option 3: Configure a connector to send mail using Office 365 SMTP
relay
Option 2 is out because we have to be able to send email to external
email addresses
We cannot purchase a 3rd party solution
I know very little about setting up/using TLS
My questions:
1. Does anyone here have any experience with what this project will
entail? And could offer some advice
2. How hard is it to setup Office365 to allow our program to relay
email through it for a novice TLS person?
3. Does setting up TLS on our Power System require getting
certificate(s)?
4. Since I have very little experience in setting up TLS I am
thinking I might be better off having a consultant setup this and
document what was done.
Where would a good place be to find a consultant we could contract out
this setup process? I believe this could be done remotely.
Thanks
Allan
