Jack--

What's your next step?

I'd suggest--

1) IPL from the A side
2) Have all the people who've been looking over your shoulder and knocking on the door verify that the system is, indeed, up and working!
3) Go home and get a good night's sleep. If you've been up all night, you're not firing on all cylinders! Worry about the system when you're fresh.

oh yes it is production.

Can it run in production on the A side?

Luckily, before I started this exercise, I permanently applied PTFs and did
a type 21 save.

I don't want to figure out how to restore from tape using the LAN console,
however. I have no idea how to set an alternate IPL with that thing.

I don't think I want to remove anything anymore. I give up. I just want to
know I can reboot the machine without destroying it.

Do you have a help desk ticket open with IBM?

Step 4 says there is a "potential for the system to crash when
removing or unmarking PTFs."

Well, are you feeling lucky? (NO! DON'T DO IT!)(Just channeling Clint
Eastwood)

What is the status of PTFs MF99009, 10, and 11? Any of them say
Permanently Applied?

So in the failed apply, have I left behind delayed PTF applies that
are going to try to do themselves at IPL and render the system
inoperable?
