Many don't realize that there is a chip in every LTO tape, even cleaning tapes. It is read by the drive as it is inserted. It is very possible that what the other software wrote to the chip is causing the IBM i LTO drive to reject it.

I do not know of any way to correct that but I'm not saying that can't be done.
