1) Have you tried unmounting image from virtual media and installing all
from tape?

2) Are migrating to a new LPAR/System?

3) Are you trying to perform tape upgrade ?

4) Why are you installing LIC from DVD/Virtual Media? Different LIC
requirements on target box? Old VTL perhaps?

Sure you have the correct tape or was the save only done on 1 tape.

If you have optical media mounted it might be worth unmounting it

I feel I've gone horribly wrong ...

I have a full system save on LTO6 tape.

I installed the lic code from virt opt media (I've done it before and
continued on to install IBM i from that virt opt and the following virt
opt
disks).

I did a D manual reboot with the tape (thru the VIOS) as the alternate
restart device.

The LPAR comes up and wants to reinstall the Lic Code which it does in
about 3-4 minutes.

Then I choose to install the OS from tape.

It finds the tape and chugs for 10 or 15 minutes "searching tape for
install media".

I then receive the dreaded:

Message . . . . . : The next volume in the sequence is needed to
continue the installation process.

Cause . . . . . . : The end of the volume has been reached.

Recovery . . . . : Load the next volume on the installation device.

End of show. Any pointers?
