However that fancy schmancy virtual control panel has a fatal flaw.

You can pusha da button to make the machine go quiet. You CAN NOT pusha da button to make it get noisy again. Once IBM i is completely shut down the control panel disappears until someone powers the machine back up with the button or via the ASMI.

LAN Console has more than 5250 support. They also have a GUI interface.
On that GUI interface they have something which looks like your Power
server front panel. Complete with Mode button, power button, etc. Figure
out how to use that.
