In my experience, SNDPTFORD is rock solid (for *SAVF) and FixCentral is far from it. FixCentral is slower even when it works, and when it doesn't you have to make multiple attempts.

I guess the old FTP to a directory is just to easy and less error prone than SNDPTFORD, so that's why folks won't use it. Yes you have to use Fix Central to order, but if you really want to you can save the order and just repeat it periodically. Takes about 4 minutes a quarter.

You can script the FTP almost as easy as the SNDPTFORD with the one manual step to enter the download information( which could also be automated with a bunch of tools). Yep, FTP fails every now and then, but no less than SNDPTFORD since 90% of the time it's a WAN problem that causes it.
