Using the CHGPRTF command is there a parameter or multiple parameters
that
can be set to prevent a spool file from printing?

Currently the spool file in question is on Hold and Saved. However the
file
prints at the completion of the job and upon availability of the print
que.

What I want to do is stop the file from printing.

There are two ways to stop a spooled file from automatically
printing. Change or override the printer file in one of the following
ways:

CHGPRTF HOLD(*YES)
OVRPRTF HOLD(*YES)

The first change affects all future use of that printer file until
that parameter is changed again (possibly through recompile). The second
change only affects the use of that printer file for the remainder of the
scope of the change -- unless the override is deleted or altered later in
the job.

If you have already done the first one and the resulting spooled
file is still automatically printing, then there are only four things that
can be causing this -- one of which is somebody manually releasing the
spooled file to print. The other three are:

1. That printer file is not actually being used in the job.
2. An override to HOLD(*NO) in the job.
3. A CHGSPLF to HOLD(*NO) in the job..

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
