Hi Peter

To clarify - I just got an update to 52.5.2, and here's what I understand.

I changed the setting David suggested - now when I click on "Reply", it goes to the mailing list as the default To: address. **** This was the behavior before the change at 52.5.0. ****

Before I changed the setting, YOUR email address would have been in the To: address.
In order to send my reply to the list, I would have had to click on "Reply to list"

I do see that when the incoming email is not from a mailing list, that the "Reply to List" button is grayed out

Gotta love all the confusion over this thing!!

Happy Upcoming New Year!
Vern

Interesting. I'm using Thunderbird 52.5.0 (32-bit) and it has separate Reply and Reply List buttons. Reply goes to what shows as the From: email address; Reply List goes to the Reply-To header email.

Attention Thunderbird users:

In order to foster ongoing dialog in the lists, I have configured the list software to set the Reply-To header in messages to send back to the mailing list.

A recent change in Thunderbird disabled that behavior so that replies went to the author of the message, ignoring the reply-to setting.

Due to public complaints, the Thunderbird devs have added a config setting to make Thunderbird behave the way it used to.

IF you set the 'mail.override_list_reply_to' setting to false, in the advanced config editor, you will get the previous behavior (Preferences > Advanced > General > Config Editor).  See https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/52.4.0/releasenotes/ for more information.
